Healthy soil makes healthy plants. Whether you’re planning a summer veggie garden (no it’s not too late), flowers, herbs or pollinator plants, you want healthy plants without toxins.
This all ages, hands-on class addresses the basics of getting your soil healthy. We’ll look at, smell, touch and understand fascinating and sometimes disgusting stuff! Including; composting methods for back yard, different soil amendments including bio-char, lime and bulk compost. We’ll even look at our indoor, counter-top Bokoshi compost system.
Spend the morning in the organically managed lily farm with donkeys, chickens and like minded gardeners. We’ll have presentation and hands-on projects set up to teach you about starting on the road to soil filled with micro-organisms, worms and all sorts of life.
With this basic knowledge you can dive in more deeply with the soil chapters from “Deep Rooted Wisdom; Stories from Generations of Gardeners.”
We’ll have the book as well as special soil amendments and a few plants available too.
Snacks, water, tea included. If you’d like to stay for lunch, please bring a brown bag lunch.
