Babydoll False Aster

At 6 feet tall, this could be an overwhelming plant.  But no! In fact, it’s delicate, airy and gauzy. Masses of flowers float in the August garden– just when the hot and humid summer needs some lightness.

This mid-west native colonizes in some places but in our climate & soils, it stays in check. It’s perfect in combination with our really tall daylily (Autumn Mineret) or tall crinum like Lolita.

Be sure to divide it each fall. Back in the mid-80’s, this was a hot commodity, a trendy, essential plant for ’80s perennial gardens!
