Rosa ‘Speedy Gonzalas’

$21.00

Fast growing, big and brilliant red flowers make Speedy an awesome rose to cover a fence, arbor or small bodega!

Speedy’s small leaves have a handsome burgundy tinge all summer. If planted on a warm wall, they stay on all winter turning completely plumb colored.

Like his heirloom rose Mom, the classic bush rose called Martha Gonzalas, Speedy tolerated blackspot and summer leaf problems. He may get them, but the leaves just drop and a whole new set comes on.

Rare in the trade, this rose is from Texas plantsman Greg Grant, renowned for updating old Southern garden favorites.

With good sun and garden soil, Speedy will easily reach 20′ tall if left alone. But we’ve kept one on an arbor over a gate at about 12 feet for years.   It’s stunning when the white and red crinum and blue spiderwort flower with it in May.
