The Container Collection

Three favorite small varieties to add color, fragrance and extended flowering dates to containers.  All are long-lived and hardy in unprotected containers into zone 7.

Crinum 'Jubilee'

There's lots of bang and fragrance for the buck in this compact, late-flowering star. This crinum is extremely rare in the nursery trade. Here's an interesting fact: this is the flower on the cover of our book, Deep Rooted Wisdom.

Crinum 'White Fluff'

This crinum is a ton of pure white flowers on an elegant, fast-spreading plant. It's a rare hybrid that was developed by garden mentor Mr. Malcom and was never brought to the retail market.

Mo' Pon'

Mo' Pon' was discovered in Charleston, SC. We're not sure of its parentage – but since its features are indeterminate, we've named it for the pond where Jenks first planted a beautiful blooming display of this bulb.

It tolerates partial shade and thrives right on the edges of ponds or in normal garden soil.  This crinum makes an elegant, slightly fragrant cut flower.

These three small crinum fit nicely into pots.  Perfect for a deck, patio or pots placed in the garden. The great thing about crinum in containers is that they tolerate some drying out– so if you forget to water for a week or three, they’ll be just fine.

This collection also offers a nice extended range of flower times;  Maiden’s Blush, in early July.  Mo’ Pon’ in mid July and Jubilee in September.foto152
