Tie Die Spider Lily Lycoris sprengeri

Electric blue tips on pink petals, this colorful version of the old favorite spider lily thrives, multiplies, and flowers equally well.  Winter growing leaves make a handsome clump, December through May. 

All Lycoris take a while to settle in, so plant it and forget it.  A little interesting history – these plants haven’t been in the US for more than a few decades. When they first came in from China, in the 90’s, I was part of the trials.  One of these in my front yard is almost 30 years old and now flowers every fall.
