Crinum ‘Pink Trumpet’
Overview Crinum ‘Pink Trumpet’ is a true showstopper. With enormous pink blooms and stalks that reach up to six feet tall, this plant commands attention from across the yard.
Growing Conditions This crinum is tougher than it looks. It has been seen thriving as far north as Lynchburg, VA in Zone 7a, so it handles cooler climates better than most. For best results, give it a spot in full sun.
Flowers The blooms on this variety are unlike anything else in the garden. Each flower stretches nine inches long in a rich, vibrant pink. The stalks average around 5.5 feet tall, making them visible from far away. In most years, the flowers arrive late in the season, typically in October for Zone 8, so you get a beautiful burst of color right when most other plants are winding down.
Leaves Even before the flowers arrive, Pink Trumpet earns its place in the garden. The upright leaves reach four to five feet tall and carry a bold, dramatic presence all season long. In spring, they already stand taller and fuller than most other crinums, with a look similar to a soft yucca.
