Crinum x ‘Candace’

Can’t beat this one for bring tropical leaf form and plant habit into our temperate gardens.  In our Zone 8b gardens, big bold Crinum asiaticum doesn’t quite thrive. Sure, itt comes back but this new hybrid brings the drama.

From Florida plantsman M. McCaffery, enjoy this Crinum asiaticum x moorei hybrid with handsome upright leaves that look great through summer. White flowers, blushed with pink open sporadically.  It’s been cold hardy and vigorous for us since 2017.

We have only a few bulbs available each year.  We ship freshly dug, bare bulbs with living roots and leaves cut back to 10 inches.  Extremely rare.

We grow this in full sun (USDA Zone 8b.) But since is parent is Asiaticum, it would probably tolerate some shade.

Stately, stiff and dark green sword-like leaves reach about 4 tall for us. It develops a thick, “trunk” psuedostem. Huge white flowers with pale blushes start in July.

Extremeley rare.
