“Opportunity is Like a Lovely Lady”

Quoted from Helen Keller’s address to the Lions Clubs.  At the cool museum that is her birthplace you’ll see some nice gardens one of which was designed by a new friend. Phillip Oliver lives nearby.

I didn’t know Philip but when I tweeted recently, “who can help me have some fun in northern Mississippi?”  He tweeted back “you should stop to see my garden nearby in Florence Alabama.” I’ve posted some cheesy phone photos but you can see his stunning photos with plant names and all on Phillips blog.IMG_6675IMG_6674IMG_6676IMG_6678IMG_6679IMG_6680IMG_6681IMG_6683IMG_6687IMG_6688IMG_6694IMG_6701

So his address went into the GPS and we discovered a beautiful small town with killer architecture, Ms. Kellers’ home and garden, a history of the blues, a Frank Loyd Wright house and this warm couples totally self made garden.

Thanks for being easy with invitations, Phillip.  And, thanks  for the chocolate pecan cookies!

I’m writing this in the back of a convertible with my hair in knots.  It’s all new for me, blogging from the back of a wifi enabled car, stopping at a roadside rest area in Birmingham Al to edit.  So I have thanks too for new technology that brought Phillip and me together and lets me do this stuff.

We both answered when several lovely ladies knocked!

The pictures here are from the road trip to Florence Alabama home of University of Northern Alabama.
