One of the truly great garden plants, Raydon’s Astor stays relatively compact all summer and then cloaks itself with lavender-blue flowers in October. It’s a stunning end-of-summer display that people and pollinators of all kinds absolutely love.

Give it a summer haircut to shape it into cloudy mounds and to appreciate its sort of minty fragrance which by the way, deer do not seem to like.

Plant in full sun, with or without irrigation in rather lean soil — excess nutrients cause it to be lanky.
