Masses of lavender pinkish flowers in November! If you’ve ever read the myths about native insects being unable to utilize non-native plants, you’ll want to grow this Asian beauty. It is a tough, handsome foliage plant all summer that turns into a dome of flowers in the fall. It is a spectacular, easy-to-grow garden plant.   

After December, we leave the spent flower head for cover for insects and small animals, then in January, cut them back and pull up little bits of the plant.  It seems to like this pulling, this rejuvenation — and you can plant them elsewhere to increase your population.
